Eileen Shepheard 

 Eileen‘s internship offered her hands-on experience working with the Minneapolis, MN sales team and distribution center.  She was exposed to numerous aspects of the healthcare supply chain that provided the chance to utilize and build on her Healthcare Sales education from the University of St. Catherine.

Her time spent with the Minneapolis Sales Team focused on projects and tasks that further developed her sales skills and industry knowledge.  Perhaps the most valuable experience of her internship, she feels, was her time spent at the corporate office in Richmond, Virginia.  Spending the first two weeks and the last week of her internship at the corporate office provided her the ability to learn and experience the company culture, build relationships with Richmond Teammates, bond with fellow interns and participate in independent and instructor lead courses offered through Owens & Minor University.

Eileen highly recommends the internship program at Owens & Minor because of the attention to detail and care put into providing each intern with the resources and tools to be successful in achieving both the student’s and company’s goals. As an intern Eileen had the structure of reporting to a manager and the support of a professional mentor to maximize her potential and help her succeed in her internship role at Owens & Minor. Eileen attributes the structure, support and opportunities of the internship for shaping her professionally and personally.  “The skill sets and knowledge I gained and the relationships I formed during my internship provided me the foundation on which I have begun my career in medical sales.”  Following Eileen’s internship she was offered a position with the Minneapolis team, where she currently works with customers, manufacturers and Group Purchasing Organizations in the field as a Sales Analyst.
