Work Hard, Play Hard
Amy Kovas
There are always opportunities to have fun at Owens and Minor.  Being able to laugh and take breaks while working is one of my favorite parts of being an Owens and Minor teammate.  Lolitta Miller does a fantastic job interviewing and hiring interns that will be a great fit with the company.  For the second summer in a row, we all get along even though our interests lie in many different places.  It’s not uncommon to walk into Intern Island just as one of us is getting hit with a squishy pink stress ball; just as it is not uncommon to walk into an empty intern island as we are all busy running to meetings or to see our managers.

Balancing hard work with fun is essential and, thankfully, welcomed at Owens and Minor.  The gym offers classes during the day with amazing trainers that can either calm you down with yoga or pump you up with zumba.  Cake day takes place once a month to celebrate all of the Home Office birthdays and the table near Intern Island is a common depository for leftover cookies from meetings.  Plus, if you’re from out of state (like me) you can probably find someone that is from, has been to, or graduated in your state.  I have found fellow Spartans (Go Green) along with some sneaky Wolverines.  Basically, if you come in with a good attitude, a smile, and determination to succeed, you’ll fit right in at O&M.

Teammate Commentary

“Owens&Minor selects top talent from leading universities to take advantage of our summer internship program.  As a 2nd year intern, Amy definitely applies her education from Michigan State’s Supply Chain Program to be a significant contributor.  She is currently working on a project to define data needs for our field analysts.  It is also good to hear that Amy is having fun along the way, enjoying O&M’s culture, hands-on projects and the total intern experience.”
