Owens & Minor Honored with Two Awards for

Exceptional Supplier Performance from Premier Healthcare Alliance

Richmond, VA – BUSINESSWIRE – June 14, 2010 – Owens & Minor, Inc. (NYSE-OMI), a FORTUNE 500 company and a leading distributor of medical and surgical supplies to the acute-care market and a healthcare supply-chain management company, today announced that for the second consecutive year it was honored with multiple awards from Premier Inc., a national healthcare alliance. Owens & Minor was recognized for providing outstanding supplier services, excellent contract management and exceptional customer service. The awards were announced at the 2010 Premier Annual Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in Washington on Wednesday, June 9, 2010.

"All of us at Owens & Minor are honored to receive these two prestigious awards from Premier and its hospital members," said Craig R. Smith, president & chief executive officer of Owens & Minor. "Winning these awards two years in a row is especially gratifying, because we value our Premier member healthcare providers, and we are pleased that our customer service quality, contract management ability and supplier services are making the grade with our customers."

Premier honored Owens & Minor with the following distinctions for 2010:

• Owens & Minor was named a winner of the fifth annual Pinnacle Award, which honors "outstanding management of Premier agreements and providing clinical and financial value to the not-for-profit hospitals that are members of the Premier alliance." While Premier contracts with more than 800 suppliers, Owens & Minor was one of 38 contracted suppliers honored with the Pinnacle Award. According to Premier, the Pinnacle Award honors suppliers that support attainment of mutual goals, drive contract utilization and are committed to performance improvement.

• Owens & Minor was awarded the second annual Premier Polaris Award in recognition of the company’s success in aligning contract performance and customer service expectations. The Polaris Award recognizes Pinnacle supplier winners that exceed the expectations of Premier and its members by delivering high relationship value and customer service to member hospitals. Owens & Minor is one of only six companies chosen to receive the Polaris Award for 2010.

"We’re honored to recognize Owens & Minor as a Premier Pinnacle and Polaris Award winner. Winners of the awards strive for collaboration and performance excellence to benefit the alliance," said Premier Purchasing Partners President Mike Alkire. "Polaris Award recipients exceeded customer service expectations in supplier performance and we commend their unsurpassed efforts to the alliance as we better serve our communities."
