Owens & Minor Responds to Extreme Weather Conditions from Hurricane Sandy
Message for Our Customers, GPOs, and Suppliers
October 30, 2012 - First and foremost, Owens & Minor always places a high
priority on the well-being of our customers, their employees, and our teammates.
Everyone on our team knows that serving our hospital customers, even in the face
of extreme weather conditions, is our highest priority. Accordingly, before the
storm arrived, Owens & Minor field team members reached out to customers to place
emergency orders and ensure that our hospitals had the supplies necessary to function
for several days, in case weather delayed subsequent deliveries.
We continue to monitor weather conditions and to adjust delivery schedules and customer
service as needed. During this highly unusual storm, we managed to complete deliveries
to our customers through high winds, pelting rain and even snow. A number of our
Distribution Centers and the customers they serve were affected by the wide ranging
storm and they continue to be affected. Regardless, Owens & Minor is ready and able
to serve the needs of our customers as our Distribution Centers and our teammates
work together to serve to the very best of our ability.
Operationally, all of the Owens & Minor Distribution Centers affected by the storm
are operating under normal conditions. Teams worked tirelessly before and during
to prepare, and now that conditions are stabilizing, operations will quickly move
back to a normal schedule. Deliveries are being made on time, weather and road conditions
permitting. Supplier deliveries are being accepted at all of our facilities, with
teammates ready to receive the vital products. With a well-honed disaster preparedness
plan in place, Owens & Minor helped its customers weather yet another history-making
storm.
