President Trump Visits Allentown

Quality service, exemplary teamwork and tireless efforts were on full display when President Donald J. Trump visited Owens & Minor's Allentown, Pennsylvania, distribution center on Thursday, May 14, 2020.

While touring the ~200,000 sq. ft. facility, Owens & Minor teammates provided the President an in-depth look at the people, technology and products that empower our healthcare response. The President saw first-hand the Allentown distribution operations, including:

· HALYARD brand PPE, the majority of which is manufactured in the Americas

· The Low Unit of Measure (LUM) module, which supports customers with customized product configurations

· Processes for loading trailers multiple times a day to deliver product to customers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic

· Our unique combination of automation, technology and human capital employed in real-time to meet customers’ changing needs and priorities

“Owens & Minor was honored to show the President how our dedicated teammates support the healthcare heroes on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis,” said Edward A. Pesicka, President and Chief Executive Officer of Owens & Minor. “We are proud of how our company continues to take significant action to make and deliver products as rapidly as possible while ensuring teammate and customer safety.

Owens & Minor has worked alongside our customers and in collaboration with government agencies throughout the response to the pandemic. Since February 1, 2020, we have shipped more than 3 billion PPE units to frontline healthcare customers. The Allentown facility alone realized an increase of more than 1,500% for N95 respirators and 165% for its face shields and gowns over pre-pandemic demand.

Owens & Minor’s 137-year legacy as a trusted provider of products, services and distribution serves as the foundation of hard work and agility necessary to deliver the highest standard of service and support during this unprecedented time.

“We remain laser-focused on our mission of empowering customers to advance healthcare,” said Pesicka. “COVID-19 is our current challenge, but will not be the last, and our approach remains the same. Owens & Minor is here for healthcare.”

The President invited three Allentown teammates – Dennis DiCarlo, Eric Yost & Carol Timm – to join him onstage, where they shared a sense of commitment and dedication to their work.

Expressing her pride, Training and Safety Coordinator Carol Timm articulated her gratitude to fellow teammates from the stage, saying, “Everything they do today saves a life tomorrow.”
