One of the best-known features of the city where Owens & Minor is headquartered is the James River, a 340-mile-long waterway that cuts through the heart of downtown Richmond, Virginia, and serves as a vital source of drinking water, recreation, and commerce for the community and the state. Because of the critical nature of this resource for our Virginia-based operations and our local teammates, The Owens & Minor Foundation is proud to partner with the nonprofit James River Association (JRA) to help support their mission to protect the James River and connect people to it.
In alignment with its goal of helping to build healthier communities, The Owens & Minor Foundation has helped support JRA for the past three years through teammate volunteer opportunities as well as financial contributions to support JRA programming, which includes hands-on activities such as river cleanup, tree planting, education, and water quality monitoring. Most recently, several Owens & Minor teammates, including President and CEO Ed Pesicka, participated in a river cleanup activity at JRA’s new educational facility and presented a contribution from The Owens & Minor Foundation to help further advance the organization’s efforts to safeguard the health of the James River.

“Over the past few years, our partnership with JRA has given Owens & Minor teammates valuable opportunities to show our commitment to having a positive impact in the places where we live and work,” said Pesicka. “We appreciate the many ways in which JRA helps to support the local community and look forward to continuing to help protect this iconic waterway.”
